Mattresses to Suit Your Sleeping Style

We sell many types of mattress here at Time4Sleep, and we like to make sure that we only have the best possible quality included in our ranges. There are three main types of mattress we offer, these are: Pocket Sprung, Memory Foam and Orthopaedic options.

What to consider when buying a mattress

There are many things to consider when buying a mattress. From mattress firmness to size, style and material, our experts at Time4Sleep are on hand to ensure you find your perfect match.

The first step is to assess what size of mattress you will need to fit your bed and suit your sleeping arrangements. For example, if you have a smaller guest bedroom, it’s probably best to opt for a single bed and mattress to save on floorspace. However, if you share your bed with a partner and have a spacious bedroom, it could be savvy to choose a larger bed and mattress (such as a king or superking) to give you both enough space to stretch out and get a comfortable night’s sleep!

Next, you need to ask yourself what you need from your mattress. Do you suffer with back and joint problems? Well, an orthopaedic mattress could be your best bet. Or are you looking for a mattress that will keep you cool at night? If so, a mattress with natural fillings are a much better choice than a memory foam one. At the end of the day, everyone’s sleeping needs are different and the “perfect mattress” is the one that’s right for you.

You’ll also need to consider the firmness of your ideal mattress as this can vary from person to person. Your perfect mattress will be one that maintains the natural curvature of your spine, supports your weight and cushions your joints throughout the night so try some out! Ranging from soft to firm, it’s always a good idea to test which type of firmness best suits your body type and shape.

What mattress size should I get?

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to mattress sizes, but this means things can get a little bit bewildering! Naturally, the size of your mattress will be dictated by the size of bed you choose – whether that be a single, double or even a super king – and the size of your room. So before you doing anything else, our advice would be to measure up your room to figure out the biggest size mattress and you could have in your room without compromising any space! Once that’s figured out, it’s then time to think about your sleeping habits. Do you move around a lot in the night? Do you sleep with a partner? Do you have kids that like to come and jump on the bed in the morning? If so, a larger mattress could be for you!

Below are the standard sizes of mattresses in the UK, but we also have a European Bed & Mattress Guide for you to browse too.

How do you choose the right mattress firmness?

It is crucial to find a mattress that offers both comfort and support. A good mattress should provide proper support for your body weight and shape, allow for movement during sleep, and have enough padding to protect your joints. However, what feels comfortable to one person may not be the same for another, so it's important to choose a mattress with a firmness level that suits your personal preference and sleep style. The best way to determine which mattress is right for you is to try out a few options to see which one works best for you.

To assist you in choosing the right mattress, Time4Sleep has a firmness scale ranging from 1 to 5. A rating of 1 indicates a soft mattress, 3 is medium, and 5 is firm. You can use this scale as a guide to determine the firmness of our mattresses. You can also refer to our blog on mattress firmness or use the firmness indicator tool on each product page to see how we have rated the firmness of a particular mattress.
