One in four women in the UK doesn't remove her makeup before bed, the Daily Mail reports. While many women forget to take off their makeup after a late night out, a quarter admit that they deliberately keep their makeup on overnight to impress their partner and give the illusion of being beautiful and groomed around the clock.
In the poll of over 1,500 British women conducted by Ergoflex UK, participants claimed that they wear makeup overnight as they are self-conscious of their natural appearance. Of these women, a massive 95 per cent admitted to keeping it a secret from their partner. The importance of sleeping with clean skin and the negative impact of makeup on skin health are clinically-proven, but many women seem to be disregarding these facts for the sake of their relationship. Jed MacEwan, of Ergoflex UK who conducted the study observed that "what was most interesting from our results is just how many women admitted to keeping makeup on when they slept, despite over half claiming it negatively affected the quality of their night’s sleep". Following on from the study, Jed MacEwan urges women to "take the makeup off and get some good quality beauty sleep, […] as there really is no substitute for a great night’s sleep!"
