'Suits' sleep on street to highlight plight of the homelessA group of businessmen and women have spent the night on Bradford's streets to raise money and awareness for support group Inn Churches. The Suits on the Street event, reported by the Telegraph and Argus, aimed to highlight the harsh realities and practical problems of sleeping on the city's pavements. In advance of the event, coordinator Juli Thompson explained: "Thank you so much to everyone who has agreed to be out with us tonight and highlight the issue. The truth is there are around 50 people who sleep rough every night in Bradford and Calderdale." Utilising the skills of a support group made up of workers from a variety of different churches, the charity provides a safe place to sleep for guests, along with a hot meal and trained volunteers to offer help and advice. Judging by the Twitter feed of one of the participants Hannah Postles, the event was a success, showing those involved exactly how tough it is to spend the night outdoors without a warm cosy bed or central heating for comfort.
