CGIs have revealed the 'bed of the future' that self-cleans, monitors health and even reads you a bedtime story, the Daily Mail reports. The images, which were created by London-based design scientist Melissa Sterry, draw on the National Sleep Foundation's international Bedroom Poll, in which 2,000 people were asked what they most want to see in bedrooms in the future. According to the study, the most popular technology is self-cleaning and bacteria-resistant mattresses, with nearly half of those asked saying they would most like to see this feature. In second place, with 42 per cent of the votes, were mattresses and bedding fitted with materials that adapt to the body and automatically adjust to cool it down or heat it up, depending on the person's body temperature. A third of people said that they would like to see smart beds that track vital statistics while a person sleeps, which would then be displayed on a screen at the end of the bed and warn people if they have an oncoming illness. Whilst all the above technologies are currently in development in some form or other, one popular, but unfortunately less likely technology, was a holographic companion that looks like a celebrity crush. A popular idea amongst those asked was a hologram of Mr Darcy, available to read bedtime stories. Designer shows us the bedroom of the future Designer shows us the bedroom of the future
