If you hadn't noticed the trend from our last post or two, spring is a time that we really, really enjoy. The evenings are brighter, and grey skies are slowly making way for bright blue counterparts. Even if this is a little optimistic (we can never hold out too much hope for the British weather), we've enjoyed seeing the other benefits of spring appear – namely the daffodils! The appearance of all the colours, beginnings of warmth and fresh starts that are associated with spring can help inspire us to bring a degree of newness into our homes. Whether that's with a spot of redecorating or a thorough spring clean, spring is the perfect time to objectively look at our homes – particularly our bedrooms – and see what we could change. What's more, Easter brings with it the gift of two extra days off from work – the perfect time, then, to break out the tool kit and do a little DIY to help improve our bedrooms. Little Changes It's all about the small things that you can do to make your bedroom into an environment that's more conducive to sleep. The NHS advises that you keep your bedroom as relaxing as possible, and work to maintain an association relationship with the room as being the place that you sleep – not somewhere to watch TV, scroll through Facebook or answer emails. Leave the laptop downstairs and take away the TV – introduce a bookshelf into your room full of books you've intended to read but never quite got round to starting. They also suggest that investing in a good quality mattress can make the world of difference for those struggling to sleep, and freshly laundered bed sheets can make the room smell fresh and appealing. If you want to go the whole hog and give the room a new lick of paint, be sure to keep it neutral. White sheets, curtains and walls all give the feeling of luxury but aren't too stimulating when you're trying to drop off. If you want to add a little colour into the room, you can always accessorise the space with feature cushions and throws on the bed, or with a funky rug, hanging artwork or with interesting lampshades. Light pastel shades of green, blue, purple and yellow fit seamlessly with this time of year, and are relaxed yet chic enough to see your bedroom through all the seasons. Not only can your bedroom be atheistically pleasing, it's also important for your sleep health. Limit the amount of visual distractions around you, and you'll be snoozing soundly for the whole of spring. Enjoy!
