A recent report has linked cherries with better sleep patterns, making the super-fruit even better if you would like to spend more time in your French antique bed80619534! The antioxidant-rich food is already thought to benefit the cardiovascular system and the brain, and the report published by Euromonitor International on March 21st adds another string to the cherry's bow. Ewa Hudson, Euromonitor's head of Health and Wellness Research, advises that sour cherries are best as they contain the highest levels of phytochemicals, which are thought to regulate sleep patterns. Drinking cherry juice or eating fresh, frozen or dried cherries could see you receiving the health benefits. Euromonitor's report refers to the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) of cherries to explain their superiority to other fruit in terms of antioxidant levels. The ORAC value of strawberries is only around 1,000, while fresh sour cherries deliver a significantly higher antioxidant value of around 1,500.
